Lukas Podolski speaks out against the new national team coach. "It shouldn't look like this"

Who will Cezary Kulesza choose? The final decision of the Polish Football Association, headed by its helmsman, will probably take place in a few or a dozen hours. The "final" is to include: Adam Nawałka , Jan Urban and Jerzy Brzęczek. Although the first two mentioned are the favorites of the race, at least according to most of the national media.
Lukas Podolski is clear about his choice of the Polish national team coachIn the case of Jan Urban, we are talking about a former coach of Górnik Zabrze, among others. There is no doubt that he is a coach with extensive experience, solid results, a past as a representative of Poland. Overall, it seems to be appropriate for this direction of choice on the part of president Kulesza.
Will it be so? It remains to be seen. However, since Górnik, there could be no shortage of opinions from Lukas Podolski. In recent years, the "one man of the orchestra" in the legendary Zabrze club. The 2014 world champion, in the past a player of such clubs as Bayern Munich, London's Arsenal, Milan's Inter and Galatasaray, drew attention to a slightly different aspect than the issue of Urban's fit for the role of coach.
– I spoke with Lukas Podolski some time ago, asking him if Urban would be a good candidate. And he said: “but it shouldn’t look like this. First, you have to know how you want to play, what profile to look for, what this national team should look like,” said Piotr Koźmiński in an interview on the Meczyki.pl channel on YouTube.
And this seems to be key, and at the same time the most... problematic in the context of decisions made by the Polish Football Association. In recent years, most often, the coaches ended their short missions of working with the Polish national team in an atmosphere of either scandal or very poor sports results. There was no talk of a vision of building a team or a team profile for the future.
Who will succeed Michał Probierz? Cezary Kulesza has made his choice! It is worth recalling that the Polish national football team has been without a coach since June 12. That was when Michał Probierz, who had held this position until then, officially decided to resign, contrary to his earlier assurances of his willingness to continue working with the Polish Football Association. However, during the June training camp of the team, so many bad things happened that it seemed like a road to nowhere.
The Poles started the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with two victories. However, these were very poor successes, exhausted victories over Lithuania (1:0) and Malta (2:0). As it turned out, in the third test, coach Probierz's team lost to the average Finland in Helsinki, greatly complicating their situation in the qualifying group.
The loss to the Finns (1:2) was not all that was bad about what happened during the last training camp in the team managed by the former coach. First of all, coach Probierz decided to strip Robert Lewandowski of the captain's armband, informing the player about this fact... in a phone conversation. What's more, "Lewy" reacted strongly, resigning from playing in the national team until Probierz becomes its coach. This best shows the scale of the crisis in the national team.
On Sunday (i.e. July 6), the president of the Polish Football Association announced that he had already chosen a new coach for the most important team in the country. Additionally, a day later, the media (including Mateusz Borek from the Sport Channel and Tomasz Włodarczyk from Meczyki.pl) added that Cezary Kulesza had definitely chosen a coach from Poland .
